A Vision Place

Sonya and I are pleased that you are interested in joining us for our High Ground at Gettysburg briefing September 29-October 2, 2022. This by-invitation-only* weekend is sponsored by Cru’s ministry to grad students and professors, Faculty Commons.

Gettysburg is truly a special place. Dr. Jay Lorenzen will be your expert field guide, having conducted over 50 events and tours on this historic battleground. We look forward to getting to know you and sharing the vision and ministry of Faculty Commons.

I believe this unique event will refresh you spiritually, renew your vision for your own life and leadership, and give you an insider’s perspective on two epic battles: the Battle at Gettysburg and the battle for America’s universities.

We will stay at The Swope Manor Bed & Breakfast. In 1836 Mr. Swope built this handsome brick structure—one of Gettysburg’s premier homes. It has been completely renovated now as an outstanding B&B with today’s comforts.

With your safety in mind, High Ground is of course contingent on the status of COVID-19 in September. Be assured that at the event we will adhere to all Cru, CDC, state, and local guidelines.

Your invitation will arrive by mail in late May or early June. If you are interested in attending, simply complete the response card and return it to us as soon as you are able. Space is limited.

Gettysburg is a pleasant 90-minute drive northwest from the Baltimore airport through the Pennsylvania countryside. Sonya and I hope to meet you this fall at High Ground at Gettysburg!

If you have any questions or want to inquire about special arrangements, please contact Rich McGee at 214-727-6084 or rich.mcgee@cru.org. He will be glad to assist you in any way.

Yours in Christ,
Rick Hove

Join us at Gettysburg: Experience The Story of Gettysburg

In great deeds something abides.
On great fields something stays.

Forms change and pass; bodies disappear,
but spirits linger, to consecrate ground for the vision-place of souls.

And reverent men and women from afar,
and generations that know us not and that we know not of,
heart-drawn to see where and by whom great things were suffered and done for them,

shall come to this deathless field to ponder and dream.

And lo!
the shadow of a mighty presence shall wrap them in its bosom,
and the power of the vision pass into their souls.

– Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

* Cru occasionally hosts gatherings to honor our ministry partners, enable them to connect with each other and our ministry leadership, and give them the opportunity to invest in projects like Faculty Commons. As our special guests, your accommodations, meals and conference costs will be provided. An opportunity for strategic financial involvement in the ministry of Cru/Faculty Commons will be offered.

To preserve the intimacy of a small conference and to enable conversation as we walk the battlefield, registration for The High Ground at Gettysburg is limited and your invitation is not transferable. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
